Steps for Making Origami Dog

Don’t fold the last point and flip the shape towards the back.

Position the square side of your paper towards the left side and the triangle side towards the right. Fold the half part of the square from the bottom (not the triangle side) towards the middle ridge.

Follow the same step with the other side. You will get a horizontally long shape and two diamond shapes (by folding the square from the bottom), and on the triangle side, you will get a small diamond shape.

The next step is to create the body of the dog.

Flip your shape. The largest diamond should be on the top, and the small diamond should be downwards.

There are two small right triangles on the large diamond on each side. Open and make the top left side of the triangle on the right side meet the end of the shape you have created. Repeat the same step with the right triangle on the left side.

You will now get a shape with a straight top side, and two triangle-shaped points will be pointing out from both sides. Below this, there must be a large diamond shape. Two large points will be pointed out to both sides.

Below that, you will get two triangles; underneath those triangles, you will get a small diamond shape. If this is not your desired figure, you must repeat the steps carefully.

Step 9

Pull the right side of the large diamond shape upwards. This creates a triangle. The ridge formed on it gets folded on top of the diamond shape by pulling this triangle upwards.

Repeat the previous step on the opposite side (left side).

Make sure you get a large diamond shape, with the top point in a V shape and two small squares above the diamond shape.

Fold the two squares you got in the previous step to get a long upside-down trapezoid.

Flip the shape you have got until now. Your shape should have a long rectangle with two triangles on the top and bottom sides. The top triangle will have its point downwards. Flip it and make the point upwards.

Fold and make the outer point of the right wing of your shape meet the left point of the wing of your triangle. Make a ridge along the fold you just made.

Open the folding you made in the previous step, and repeat the same with the other side (follow the previous step).

The next step is making the final form.

In this step, fold both of the wings at the same time. Here, you will get the shape of an airplane’s front side. Fold the airplane shape to the right.

After this, fold the airplane shape underneath your work.

The next step is to fold the front part of your shape (the part above the airplane shape) and make the top right point of the triangle meet the left point. Fold and make a ridge there.

In the airplane shape, you should see three triangles, in which the middle triangle will be pointing upwards while the others point downwards.

Fold the middle triangle and make the triangle base meet the rest of the overall shape. Flip and repeat the same with the opposite side.

Step 21

The next step is creating the dog’s head. Flip your shape in such a way that the airplane shape will be on the right side, pointing towards the top.

Fold the middle triangle of your airplane shape. The triangle’s height should equal the top of the airplane shape. Flip and repeat the same step with the other side. Finally, your origami dog will be ready!
